What photography experience do you have?I graduated from university with a double major in digital media and video production in 2014. Since then I’ve traveled the world shooting videos for a media missions organization and done freelance photography and design work. I started this business in South Carolina in May of 2020, and photographed listings in both North and South Carolina before moving to Halifax in August 2021. You can some of my work in my portfolio!

How did you get into short term rental/real estate photography? My mom entered the short term rental world in 2018. I loved photographing and designing the branding for that rental and learning about the hospitality industry along with my mom. The longer I thought about it, the more I realized I wanted to make short term rental photography a bigger part of my life and help more people like my mom show off their unique spaces. Because of the similarities, real estate photography naturally followed.

Is "Spare 'Oom" a typo?"Good eye, but no, it's intentional! The name is a nod to my favorite book series, The Chronicles of Narnia. In The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Mr. Tumnus the faun, unfamiliar with the concept of guest rooms, mistakenly refers to the spare room that housed the magic wardrobe as the "spare oom." Since my photography business started from a desire to help hosts show off and rent their "spare rooms," I thought the name fit. "'Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tumnus.''I am very pleased to meet you, Mr. Tumnus,' said Lucy.'And may I ask, O Lucy, Daughter of Eve,' said Mr. Tumnus, 'how you have come into Narnia?''Narnia? What’s that?' said Lucy.'This is the land of Narnia,' said the Faun,'where we are now; all that lies between the lamppost and the great castle of Cair Paravel on the Eastern Sea. And you--you have come from the wild woods of the west?''I--I got in through the wardrobe in the spare room,' said Lucy.'Ah,' said Mr. Tumnus in a rather melancholy voice, 'if only I had worked harder at geography when I was a little faun, I should no doubt know all about those strange countries. It is too late now.''But they aren’t countries at all,' said Lucy, almost laughing. 'It’s only just back there--at least--I’m not sure. It is summer there.''Meanwhile,' said Mr. Tumnus, 'it is winter in Narnia, and has been for ever so long, and we shall both catch cold if we stand here talking in the snow. Daughter of Eve from the far land of Spare Oom where eternal summer reigns around the bright city of War Drobe, how would it be if you came and had tea with me?'
